San Francisco was SO WONDERFUL! In the middle of winter, it's lovely to take a vacation in which you can where a spring coat because the temp is 60 degrees :) I was absolutely amazed at how beautiful it was! How come nobody ever told me? So, I wanna move out there....any takers for a roommate?? Anywho...it was also a quite...interesting trip? I got stuck in the room wil 24 bunk beds (which were all full). I will attempt to tell as much of my trip as possible (sorry if it gets boring).

Thursday February 12: We begin to fly out to San Fran at 6:30am. At the MSP airport, the plane can't connect to the jetway so we had to move after waiting 1/2 hour to deplane. Needless to say, I didn't get any Caribou as I was shuttled past it briskly. We arrive in the Golden City and head over to the Hostel, which appears to be a summer camp housing situation. I am blessed with a top bunk with boys all around me (who snore, which I found out later). We settle in as the professors leave to go check into their hotels. We are expected to be downtown in only 2 hours. Hungry kids, we eat at a local shop down on Fisherman's Wharf which was ok. I got me some fish and chips and we were on our way. It was about an hour walk but it was lovely. We get to the architecture firm at 4pm (the time the profs told us to be there) and apparently the tour started at 3 (which was what the itinerary said). The profs were pissed at us....darn them! That was the tour of Skidmore, Owings and Merril (aka SOM) and they've built many of the skyscrapers you find memorable all over the world (for examples, ask me). They were boring and conceted and I concluded that they weren't the firm for me. We then visited the Museum of Modern Art (the building ROCKS!!) and proceeded to the nearby steakhouse for dinner and drinks. HOLY CRAP do they burn their drinks! I was tanked after a beer and a sex on the beach (shear alcohol!). We then tumbled (literally) home around 1am.

Friday February 13: We awaken early (though there were a couple times in the evening we could hear the abercrombie boys come home). Jason (abercrombie boy #1) crawls out of bed and realizes he slept on his glasses (which were now bent). He calls up to Linn (abercrombie boy #2) on the top bunk to awaken him. "Fuck, Linn....are we still drunk?" Linn slowly sits up in bed and turns to Jason. Linn is wearing Hawaii 5-0 Sunglasses still and has a cigarrette coming out of his mouth (which appears to be stuck on his lips). Linn says no....as Jason reminds asks if he's gonna smoke that or if it's just for looks. Linn concludes that he too, is still drunk. I go to shower, and I come back to scary man running around our room naked (think of what a scrawny homeless man would look like) and Linn ironing his COURDEROY pants in his tightie whities. Yes, he does wear briefs, no need to ask. The rest of the day was tours with HOK and visiting the site and what not. Dinner was at Hard Rock where we all proceeded to get trashed again. Went back to the hostel to get rid of stuff and then went out to the bars again. Lovely....crawled into bed round 2am and slept soundly.

Saturday February 14: Happy Valentine's day!!! Did some tours and shopped. Took the uphill way to the site and the 2 people that CHOSE to walk with me began to yell at me for making them walk up all those hills. Did I tell them to come with me?? I think not. They could have taken the bus....I didn't make them walk (unlike Al and Karen in Italy, which I do apologize).....I did LOTS of walking...my ankles hurt from the walking motion. Ate at the In and Out (like McDonalds) and then went home for an early (11:30) bedtime.

Sunday February 15: One more tour to the Exploritorium (i'll have to show you those pics!) and then went to visit the Golden Gate Bridge and Pac Bell Stadium. WONDERFUL!! Then went to the Japanese Tea Gardens (which closed 15 minutes before we arrived, so Erin snuck over the fence for pictures). We then ate at the Cha Cha Cha on Haight and Ashbury (the old hippie area which is now more punk/goth) and had some wonderful sangria and an assortment of sea food, including fried calamari. Went down to the wharf for more shopping and was in bed by 11 (we had to get up early). Fortunalty, I must have gotten sick off of all the calamari cuz I saw it again later that night. Ishy! Slept a bit but then had to be up at 5:00 for getting ready to leave.

Monday February 16: Left the hostel at 6:15 and made it on the plane. Got to MSP and made a beeline to Caribou. Had a WONDERFUL conversation with those people at I proceeded to buy them out (some coffee to take home, a sammich and a Hot Apple Blast. Then it was back to Fargo where it's still cold. What a great trip!!!

THE PROJECT IS DONE!! The first project of the semester is completed, I'm working on other homework and will be able to sleep tonight! A LOVELY sleep :)

Tuesday, February 03, 2004

After an immense lack of sleep, I slept last night (despite my project not yet completed). Threw a temper tantrum and got myself ice cream at Cold Stone before retiring to bed after convincing myself that "I could definitly complete a presentation and print it in 24 hours". So when that doesn't happen, you can all begin yelling at me for having gone to sleep before 4am last night cuz I was a bad student. Good news is, I can think today and I have not yet had a temper tantrum. Bad news is, massive plotters are still not working and my boards haven't been started and I work tonight. Ishy! Just think, tomorrow at 4:30pm, I can go start other homework and sleep and join the real world for a temporary trial offer!
